Overview

What are NFTS?

It seems like you can't go anywhere without hearing about NFTs. Whether it's a friend or a family member talking about it, the latest art exhibition featuring an NFT collection, or even hearing your favorite celebrity talk about their recent launch of NFTs.

You may have asked what's so great about NFTs. It's just weird digital art. Well, yes and no. An NFT can be anything you want it to be, which has then been minted and secured on the blockchain. An NFT is a non-fungible token, meaning; there is only one of it. It offers many benefits, like making art trading much easier and faster and providing proof of ownership. The artist is compensated for their art every time it's resold, not just the first time. We want to show you some examples of NFT featuring companies.

If you'd like to learn more about NFTs before heading further, you can read our blog post on 'What is an NFT? Understand what they are and how they work in under 5 minutes.' If you feel like you know enough, then continue reading.

4ARTechnologies

What do they solve?

4ARTechnologies is fighting the long and seemingly unending battle against art plagiarism. Their innovative technology can be accessed on an app from a smartphone, making it easier for artists and buyers to verify the authenticity of the art. Art pieces are able to gain a digital fingerprint through scanning and assessing the microstructures of the paint with a smartphone camera.

NFTs can get a forensic watermark to ensure originality which prevents the sale of counterfeits—creating more trust and security in your purchases of art and providing timestamped documentation on the blockchain on the art's status and upkeep. It takes away a lot of the stress and mistrust of the art world, doesn't it? Now let's look more into what 4ARTech has to offer.

The basics

What do they do?

4ARTechnologies is probably one of the biggest game-changers for both artists (physical and digital creators) and art collectors alike. Let's start with the physical art aspect of this company and what they are going to help prevent any plagiarism and scamming within the art world.

With 4ARTechs innovative Augmented-Authentification-Technology combined with the blockchain, it offers security and process efficiency with increased transparency for the participants of the art world. Using a smartphone camera, the user is able to scan a piece of art and analyze its microstructures to create a patented digital fingerprint for secure, undeniable verification. As well as create a useable passport for the artwork in combination with its digital fingerprint in their app.

“A potential buyer is able to secure that the artwork is the original (in a gallery or online) by authenticating the artwork's unique fingerprint in seconds. ”

4ARTech continues to impress with more extensive and mind easing features. A potential buyer is able to confirm that the artwork is the original (in a gallery or online) by authenticating the artwork's unique fingerprint in seconds. 4ART Protocol provides detailed documents of any location change, ownership transfer, condition reports, property rights, and important events. It's then automatically reported and secured on the blockchain using a tamper-proof timestamp, privately storing all personal and artwork documentation. If any changes or damages were made to the artwork, the user is provided with a report and timestamp on the blockchain of what occurred. A condition comparison and reporting tool can detect any damages caused to the artwork.

Not only does 4ARTech provide security and transparency for everyone in the art world, but they also go the extra mile by providing VR and AR exhibitions to take art promotion and viewing to the next level. Fast transactions or requests about the artwork are made securely. The chat functionality allows direct contact between the buyer and the seller, which is safe for any exchange of sensitive information. 4ARTech has provided so much security and transparency, revolutionizing security and making the art trading world much safer and more accessible than ever. We've talked mainly about the physical art pieces, and you may be wondering what about NFTs?

NFT Relation

What About NFTs?

We've discussed 4ARTech's relationship and help with the physical art world, but what about the digital? NFTs are known for their uniqueness and perceived security, yet many people are still deceived and left disappointed when sold a fake. Something that's become a bit of an epidemic in the world of NFTs. 4ARTechnologies is here to help put a stop to this. All creators must be KYC authenticated (providing ID etc.. to prove you are who you say you are) in order to mint an NFT to ensure security for the creator and all users.

Providing binding documents to all future collectors allows for increased transparency and security as they can ensure and secure their rights and privileges in legally binding docs. Users can choose from various protocols and standards like Ethereum, Tezos, and Binance Smart Chain to digitize art pieces or collections.

Legal documents are stored in the Ethereum blockchain.

The artwork has a link to the 4ART platform, which is part of the immutable metadata (data that provides information about other data), with an IPFS (InterPlanetary File System, which is a peer-to-peer network for storing and sharing data in a disrupted filesystem) as an additional backup to provide extra security.

The NFTs that are minted are provided with a forensic watermark, the digital equivalent of a digital fingerprint giving the NFTs the same level of security. You can trade in 4ART's marketplace or a marketplace of your choice. Promote your digital art and earn royalties with every trade. In the end, having peace of mind knowing that anything you sell is branded as authentic and anything you buy is by the actual artist. So if any of you have been interested in joining the NFT market but are scared of scams, here's the perfect opportunity to dip your toe in the NFT pool and feel secure with your purchases.

Our Analysis

We have all been impressed with 4ARTech making strides in solving the century-old issue of art plagiarism as well as the incoming modern ones. Yet you'd think a company so passionate and involved in the art world would have a website containing a little more excitement. From a technical and informational standpoint, there isn't anything wrong. Yet the first time looking at the page, the only feeling you were left with was disappointment.

They present the information in an easy way and have some attractive features like visuals of the phone showcasing their product (the app). In general, the website is pretty bland and not very engaging. There's a way to be simple but still engaging, like in the case of Sygnum with one eye-catching color, small interactive pieces, and animated text. Yet 4ARTech's website feels like you're reading a dull, blue and white textbook.

DDT SCORE

Treading Down

They present their different products well, although some information could be cut from the homepage. We all hate being overwhelmed with paragraphs of text when all we want to do, is get to the main point to figure out what it does. You'd rather be left wanting more and encouraged to click to continue reading rather than getting information thrown at you right away, and this could easily be created with a layered informational structure. On a positive note, the technical terminology is at an extreme minimum, making everything easy to understand. An intelligent choice because it's likely artists with minimal web3 experience that would be using the site. This is a bonus for us all, isn't it? It saves us from looking up a million words just to understand what's happening.

They have such fantastic products and so many pieces of art at their disposal. It feels like a missed opportunity to make a cool, engaging, and interactive website to introduce all their incredible products. It lacks any branding apart from the logos, so everything feels a little flat. There is almost no motivation to continue reading. It seems quite clear that they had some fascinating visuals within the app that could quickly be adopted to spice up the website and create more of a consistent branding.

Currently, it's a website that's easily forgotten, with no immediate sense of branding around it, yet so much opportunity. By all means, you won't be horrified looking at it, and the navigation is all good, but it won't precisely spark any interest, which is such a shame.

In conclusion, this website will by no means frustrate you like many others out there, and you'll get all the information you need, but it is not memorable. We can all agree it needs an upgrade and that we can't wait to see what it could become.

What do they solve?

Alienworlds is a game where you compete for domination of the different DAO Planets, complete intergalactic questions or mine for tokens called Trillium—participating in a community of like-minded people to find or collect NFTs on the way. Alienworlds gets more people engaged with the decentralized, crypto, and NFT world through gameplay. Allows familiarity with decentralized games and a decentralized internet as you participate in making changes and decisions for the different DAOs in a fair and equal gaming environment. It also provides multiple passive earning opportunities.

The basics

What do they do?

ALIENWORLDS, it's set in 2055, and a group of Earth's inhabitants have managed to find a way to escape the ranging pandemics on Earth. After cracking the code to the messages the Aliens sent through bitcoin mining algorithms, they discovered a wormhole allowing humans to travel to exoPlanets. You get sent off on missions through the metaverse to explore and discover NFTS. You can build a community with other players and together build NFT drops, strategize planet politics, or create your own games and join intergalactic missions. So it sounds pretty exciting, right?

“You get sent off on missions through the metaverse to explore and discover NFTS.”

ALIENWORLDS is the largest decentralized game on Earth. It's ranked first in all dApp games. The fun continues as you participate in missions, earn Trillium, engage in governance through weekly votes for DAO planet council elections, and submit proposals on how to distribute planetary treasury or run for council.

ALIENWORLDS has an in-game cryptocurrency called TLM tokens which can be acquired through mining or as participation rewards to develop the in-game ecosystem and activity. TLM is needed to purchase and upgrade items, participating in quests and other in-game activities. You may stake your TLM to participate in the governance of the planets and other rewards. You can also purchase in-game items which are minted as NFTs.

NFT Relation

What About NFTs?

In the AlLIENWORLDS metaverse, players can acquire NFTs (digital game items) to mine TLM, engage in battles, and complete in-game quests. The NFTs all have different levels of rarity and attributes. You can discover land, tools, minions, weapons, and avatars. Players may purchase and assemble NFTs that best suit their gameplay depending on their strategy. Additionally, players may engage in governance by electing the Councilors of six Planet DAOs, thereby influencing the game's direction. You are also provided with game history or lore to understand the background. Players may select NFT game cards for their strategy on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and WAX to be used for mining, fighting, and missions.

Our Analysis

It's safe to say the ALIENWORLDS does a great job of keeping their world alive and immersing you into the game through their design. The whole site features a dark, spacey vibe, with a Star War-Esque trailer of the game/world history including info on what it has in store for you, pulling you more into their "Alien world". With a name like that, there's so much opportunity, and they grasped at what they could.

They are going the extra mile with a page focused on the game's lore, showing visuals of the different DAO Planets, and displaying the mechanics of how you can use your tokens. All of the visuals and videos are kept on theme even when venturing off to their YouTube and, social media. They do their best to keep the illusion of ALIENWORLDS alive, which I think we can all agree, makes everything seem all the more realistic and exciting.

Kind of like when you're waiting in line for a ride at Disney Land, and the surroundings are all designed to get you more excited and immerse you into that world.

While ALIENWORLDs does an excellent job of getting the primary information across, there is always room for improvement. Adopting a three-layer information method could make things a little more interactive and slightly less overwhelming. While the technical jargon isn't too bad, it still leads to confusion, especially for all of you unfamiliar with blockchain terminology.

While they create many great opportunities to make their game come to life, they miss out in a few places when trying to motivate even more people to join and expand the ALIENWORLDS community. Three words. Free to play. Making it clear that it doesn't cost anything to start playing, or that you could make a passive income from playing still remains a bit of an unclear point. If someone was just told to connect a wallet to something, it's almost assumed you have to pay, like when you sign up for a free trial, and they want your information to pull the money out of it the second that free trial finishes. That can automatically be a lot less motivating and would spark concern for someone who wouldn't understand the blockchain world and have something like an indication of the different steps you will be taking to sign up to play the game. Presentation of sign-up processes is beneficial in web2 UX but applies just as well in web3, especially since it's such a new topic where things can easily get lost in translation.

There are other minor design issues like spacing/layout issues with the site, especially with the responsiveness and mismatched font. There are also opportunities to make the game trailer which is already very engaging, a lot more prominent, and front and center to grab the attention of people entering the website.

In general, Alienworlds does a great job of utilizing design to improve the storytelling that pulls you and keeps you immersed. They make other great choices like letting you follow along with what the developers are working on through a road map of completed, in progress, and future plans. Acknowledging there are scams associated with their site and warning you. We can all appreciate a warning to help us avoid losing any money.

In conclusion, we are all probably eager to try and play it after all the effort to create such a brand and experience, especially if you love space, aliens, and fair, decentralized internet games. All elements in our eyes are quick fixes, plus we can assure you it is free to play, and they just want your wallet to store any Trillium (which can be converted into other currencies) and NFTs you collect. Here is a perfect and fun opportunity to learn and immerse yourself in the web3 world!
